Posture Carriages is a four-part unscripted monologue video performance in which the artist Kate Meakin performs four improvised characters. Together the artists devised multiple women characters for Kate perform. The camera is considered to be an ‘imagined’ audience or interlocutor for Kate to transmit emotional information through in the form of monologue. In this work nuanced emotional information is translated in the act of monologue improvisation between the performer, internalising an image of a narrative or persona, and the camera. In the process of making this work the artist was interested in the triangulation of camera, performer and audience.
